VonHenry Media on the Red Carpet at the Ritz Film Festival

The Ritz Film Festival was held in Winter Haven, FL this past weekend.  Go Mickey Go (trailer:  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9xnbkk00dA4) was playing in the festival and so we decided to attend.  We left Clearwater Friday afternoon and drove over to Winter Haven.

The Opening Night film was a 2004 release, Fallen Angel, about Gram Parsons, from the bands The Byrds and The Flying Burrito Brothers.  Gram was born in Winter Haven and the festival wanted to draw from those interested in Gram’s music and life.  Parsons is credited with creating the country rock sound.

One other film we liked was called Cyber Seniors.  (Trailer:  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bemDf6wuHJ0#t=41)   It’s a documentary we wish we had made.  It’s about teenagers teaching older adults about the internet, YouTube, and social media.  It was clever, well edited and a great story.

Our film, Go Mickey Go, was shown just before lunch on Saturday.  It was good to see it on a big screen once again.  There’s nothing like it that we’ve ever experienced before.  Stuart Lycett from Competition 101 drove over to see it too.  He’s in the film as he coached the driver this film is about.

After Go Mickey Go was shown, we were photographed on the red carpet…something we were thrilled to experience. The whole festival and the organizers were positive and uplifting.

We also were fortunate enough to meet Tony Armer, the Executive Director for the Sunscreen Film Festival.  Tony assisted the people at the Ritz Film Festival in setting up this first event.  Tony has some big plans for filmmakers in this area which he says he’ll announce very soon.

At this writing we ar still awaiting news of who won in what categories.  If our film won anything we’ll be sure to share in social media.  Overall our experience was very positive and we loved seeing the film on the big screen once again.

Stella Heath of the Ritz Film Festival says they’ll show our film again in January.  Competition 01 will bring a race car to the festival and we’ll promote giving away several ride-alongs on the race track.  The dates for that festival are January 16-18, 2015.
